City tour of Linz,Donau
Walking through the centre you can tangibly feel the history of the city. The alleys of the old town, which lies directly beneath the castle, impart a sense of past times. Impressive town houses and abbeys reward a closer look, as do the inner courtyards lying hidden behind arched entrances. Right next to the old town lies the large baroque main square full of buzzing activity.
The cathedral defines the cityscape, as do the churches and basilica. The Neue Dom is the largest church in Austria with a height of 134 m and space for 20,000 people. The pilgrimage basilica on the Pöstlingberg is visible form far, the iconic landmark of the city. A modern offset is provided by the Lentos Art Museum, whose distinctive glass façade shines with alternating colours at night.
